The US Consumer Price Index (CPI) is published monthly by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). It is typically released at 8:30 AM Eastern Time (ET), usually around the middle of the month, covering the previous month.
CPI tracks changes in prices paid by consumers for a basket of goods and services. Headline CPI and core CPI (excluding food and energy) are both reported, as month-over-month and year-over-year changes.
CPI is one of the main inflation readings that shapes expectations for Federal Reserve policy, so economic calendars usually mark it high impact. Nasdaq 100 (NQ) and S&P 500 (ES) futures can move sharply around the release.
Release dates change each month. Check the official BLS release schedule, or see this week's events on the RedFolder calendar.
