The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) holds eight scheduled meetings per year. On the final day of a meeting, the policy statement and interest rate decision are typically released at 2:00 PM Eastern Time (ET), and the Fed Chair's press conference usually begins at 2:30 PM ET.
Minutes of each meeting are typically released about three weeks later, at 2:00 PM ET.
The rate decision, statement wording, projections (at some meetings) and press conference can all shift rate expectations, so calendars mark FOMC events high impact. NQ and ES futures often see elevated volatility through the afternoon.
The Federal Reserve publishes its meeting calendar on federalreserve.gov. See this week's events on the RedFolder calendar.
